Zip, zip as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man…

Students create a zipline, attach a straw trolley to an Elf, and design a Gingerbread Man.  The STEM challenge was to make the Gingerbread man faster than the Elf.  Students thought of adding mass, increasing the angle of the zipline, and giving the Gingerbread man a push.

The students were challenged to create a square using 2 large triangles, 2 small triangles, 1 small square, 1 parallelogram, and 1 medium triangle.  After they complete the puzzle, they explore with the shapes to design their own creations.  Then they draw the plan in their STEM notebook, and finally they make their design to display.
