What makes something alive?
We discuss gravity, lift, drag, and thrust with a diagram to show the direction of each force. Next is the design process; create paper aircraft, test flight, make it better, test again, change how you throw it, test again, time for final flight. And the results are…

Filippo Brunelleschi and Leonardo da Vinci figured out the calculations to create three-dimensional images appear on a flat surface. Our third and fourth graders at Brown Elementary investigate this phenomenon by using measuring tools and a careful eye to see how it happens. By keeping their focus on the ruler, and then having a partner move a plastic cup away from them, it appears to measure smaller each time the cup is moved farther from their visual perspective. Using the data they collect, they then produce a graph to clearly show their results.
