The students learn how to program computers through coding. We talked about code being the language robots and computers read to do the work we want them to do. We figured out that people are smarter than computers, because people are the ones who put the codes into them.

The students painted each one with their own personal design, and they line the edge of our new garden at Brown Elementary.
We talked about how we can make the world a better place based on the book “Only One You”, by Linda Kranz.
The kids had so many good ideas… Picking up trash, inventing new things, helping someone, sharing, donating to people in need, being a friend, and many more.
This week we recorded our beginning of the school year measurements, and what we want to be. The students thought about what they need to learn for the careers they hope to have. This helped us define STEM, discovering most jobs require knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Wow! We have all grown over the summer, so good to be back at it. The students made some great connections using summer memories and their names. And then were challenged to work as a team to lift a tennis ball without touching it, using the tool of a washer with strings attached, and a lot of critical thinking and collaboration.
