For math this week the students write equations that equal their age, birthdate, number of letters in their name, etc.
Then we shuffle the papers up and they get to solve the equations written by another student, and try figure out who’s paper it is.
They also do some measuring and compare their measurements from last year, I kept their measurement papers from last year for height, length of hand, foot, and arms, so they can see how much they grew this year. Some students grew 4 inches, amazing!

The students were so curious about the frogs in the drains outside, and with so many questions about them, we learned more about how they could get in there, and what might happen to them when it freezes. They had fun trying to make a frog that hops, and tested them on our classroom lily pads. Again, thinking about how engineers look to examples in nature for new inventions.
Now that we have ALL the students back in STEM, I wanted them to know that they each matter, so we read a book titled, “You Matter” and design their hands to celebrate how they are unique.
